The R rated drama and thriller film "Joker" made its appearance to theaters on October 4, 2019. It became the highest grossing R rated film ever, earning just over 1 billion in the box office. This film has a general target audience that is similar to our own, although it may be targeting a slightly higher age range, from young adults to early middle age. The film had its premiere on September 9. It made the majority of its revenue from the box office within the first four weeks since its release. Soon after, it became available digitally on Amazon Video and iTunes on December 17. However, since it was so successful and was nominated 11 times by the Oscars, it was re-released back into theaters for a week (January 17-24). It was made available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 7. Something we could emulate in our distribution would be to release the movie on iTunes first, then make it available on DVD and Blu-ray a couple weeks after. This way those who don't want to see the movie in theaters are able to see it from their home not to long after its theater release. In addition, we would have a premiere of the movie to allow for critics to rate our movie and encourage the public to go see the film in theaters.
