Get Out- Mystery/Thriller
In the opening of the movie, a young man is shown walking alone at night in an unfamiliar neighborhood. He is talking to himself because he is trying to figure out where to go. The street is completely empty until a car drives by. The car turns around and slowly drives behind the man. He quickly realizes that he is being followed and decides to turn around. He stops to look back at the car and sees that the car is stopped and the door is open. Then, someone comes from behind and puts the man in a choke hold until they pass out. He is then put into the trunk and the car drives away. A mid-shot is used for the majority of this scene to show the man's reaction to the situation while he is walking. An over-the-shoulder shot is also used to show the car that is stalking him from behind. The location takes place in a wealthy neighborhood and this helps establish the setting of the film. There is source music that comes from the car and it is some sort of old creepy festival music. The only job titles shown were the production companies and the director of the film, Jordan Peele. The budget for this film was 4.5 million and it made 255 million. Get Out has won numerous awards and some of them include, Academy Award for best Director, Academy Award for best Actor, and Academy Award for best Picture.
