In the first two minutes, the main villain is introduced, who is the Joker. He is robbing a bank with some other people he hired. However, it is not clearly identified who is the joker until the end of the opening scene, because the entire crew, including the Joker, all have similar masks on. Each member of the crew shoots other members of the group in the back after each task is completed. They has specific from the joker to do so and they know it will increase their pay. However, the do not know that the joker is among them and he had it all planned out so that he would be the only won alive after all the money was collected. The first shot of the movie is an wide shot that zooms in on the mask the joker is holding and becomes an insert. Shortly after, there is an over the shoulder shot of one of the masked burglars aiming at the back of another burglar without him knowing. There is a great use of props in this scene as all the burglars have a variety of weapons, big bags to carry the money, and a tool used to drill through a safe. There is incidental music being played which is intense and energizing and makes the scene very fast-paced as it should be. There are no job titles listed in this opening sequence. The budget for this film was 185 million and the box office was about 1 billion. The Dark Knight has won many awards such as, Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and Sound Editing, as well as MTV movie Award for Best Villain.
